7.2.6. Setting Goals With Survivors
Service providers should work with survivors to set personally meaningful goals. Setting goals can help survivors to develop a sense of purpose, focusing on the future with a positive perspective. Survivors should be empowered to decide what they want to work on and be assisted in developing a plan. SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) goals can be useful here. Setting SMART goals can help build optimism, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment as goals are achieved.
