2.2.3. Gender and Age Dynamics
Trafficking in persons in Uganda affects people of all ages and genders. However, it does not affect all to the same extent or in the same ways. Women and girls generally make up the highest proportion of trafficking cases identified in the country, although exploitation of men and boys is also widespread. Despite significant attention on trafficking in children, adults make up the majority of registered victims of trafficking in the country. In 2018, 46% of registered trafficking victims were women, and 16% were girls. Further, people may be more vulnerable to particular forms of exploitation based on gender or age.
