2.2.2. Location of Exploitation
Trafficking can impact:
- Ugandan nationals within Uganda (internal trafficking)
- Ugandan nationals abroad (transnational trafficking outside Uganda)
- Non-Ugandan nationals within Uganda (transnational trafficking within Uganda).
Transnational trafficking victims are identified more often than domestic trafficking victims, despite the fact that internal trafficking is estimated to be more common. In 2018, 94% of trafficking cases reported by the Government were transnational trafficking and only 6% were cases of domestic trafficking.[1]
