10.11. Mentoring
Survivors may benefit from being assigned a mentor (ideally a survivor who has shown sustainable (re)integration for more than six months and is engaged in empowering work). This mentor should support the survivor and advise them on training and potential ‘next steps’ in their journey. Mentors can be inspirational to survivors as they can demonstrate what is possible for the survivor to achieve and provide them with encouragement and support. Survivors may also benefit from a non-survivor mentor or coach to help guide them in their (re)integration and employment. This can also reduce the burden on support providing agencies.
